3 Ways Breathwork Serves as a Powerful Tool for Cycle Breakers

If you are committed to shedding intergenerational trauma and breaking free from toxic patterns or limiting beliefs, breathwork facilitator & mindset coach Ana Lilia breaks down how the breathing technique will benefit you on your healing journey.

Before Ana Lilia was introduced to breathwork, she was struggling with hypervigilance and high-functioning anxiety. The unaddressed repressed emotions were even manifesting as nervous tics and skin conditions. She had just started exploring healing modalities when breathwork came into her life, and it was an empowering and somatic experience that impacted her so profoundly she started practicing consistently.

“I felt like it just brought this surge of life force back into my body. I was able to see things in a different way,” said Lilia.

Today, she holds spaces for people to move through the same process of actively breathing in a way that switches your nervous system from being on high alert to feeling safe and relaxed. In fact, the technique has proven to manually switch your nervous system from sympathetic to parasympathetic, which is where the healing can actually happen. In this state of safety, the body begins to release all that has been stuffed down.

“For so long, I didn’t feel safe in my body. I was constantly doing stuff because being just with myself, being in stillness, was too much. Our bodies are so powerful, and when given the right environment, they know how to heal themselves,” she said.

The beautiful thing about breathwork is that it serves as a container (alongside an experienced facilitator) to find that safety and begin to shed the aspects of yourself that are no longer serving you. Release the grief, pain, sadness, anger, to hear your most authentic self more clearly.

If you’re the cycle breaker in your family committed to healing for yourself and your lineage, this modality is for you. Ana Lilia has shared three ways breathwork can support you as you navigate life as a cyclebreaker.
